HAND PROTECTION Neoprene Neoprene is a synthetic rubber produced by the polymerization of chloroprene. It is valued for its high tensile strength and suited for handling acids, caustics, oils, greases, alcohols, ketones, petroleum based solvents, and aliphatic hydrocarbons. Butyl A synthetic rubber polymer for heavy chemical protection. Butyl rubber provides excellent chemical resistance from gases including nerve agents, amines, esters, ketones, and acids. Extremely soft and supple, offers good dexterity but limited mechanical durability. Viton A synthetic rubber polymer for chemical protection. The main chemical classes that Viton provides excellent protection against include halogenated hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons. Viton also protects from sulfur-based chemicals and amines. Coatings are dipped onto the Liner for Grip in various environments. The dipping method varies to fit different work applications. Natural Rubber Latex Natural rubber latex is supple, robust and provides excellent dry and wet grip. It provides protection from aqueous cleaning detergents and good resistance to alcohol and ketones. It does contain natural rubber proteins and users can become sensitized to them. Nitrile (NBR) A synthetic rubber copolymer of acrylonitrile and butadiene, Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR) is ideally suited for handling oils, fuels, and aliphatic hydrocarbons. Offers good mechanical durability, and has a light contact heat resistance up to 100C. Nitrile Foam A nitrile foam coating makes control and movement more reliable. In greasy or oily environments the interaction between the glove coating and substance improves grip, even on smooth surfaces. Nitrile Sponge Micro-foam coating with excellent durability and aiding breathability for long-term comfort. The micropore technology limits the ingress of oils and greases, whilst enabling efficient grip. Polyurethane An elastomer that is resistant to wear, abrasion, tearing as well as grease. Remains supple in cold conditions. Microporous, very elastic and adapts easily to all of the hand’s movements. PVC Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is a synthetic resin and provides good protection from alkalis and acids. It is known for its exceptional durability and commercial attractiveness. HPT Foam Hydropellent Technology (HPT) coating. The HPT process creates a spongy, soft, and durable coating that repels liquids to provide a firm wet or dry grip. Encapsulated air molecules provide an inherent vibration absorption feature. DIPPING/COATING MATERIALS 41
