RESPIRATORY PROTECTION LPHA SENTINEL Filter Guide This guide explains the types and fitting of Alpha Sentinel Filters and offers guidance on selecting the right filter for hazardous substances. To ensure full protection, use this guide alongside the COSHH risk assessment (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002). HOW FILTERS WORK MANUFACTURED I N THE UK DESIGNED & MADE IN THE UK Gas filters Gas filters remove gases or vapours and are classed according to their capacity of how much of the contaminant they can hold and the type of substance they can be used against: Class 1 = Low capacity Class 2 = Medium capacity Class 3 = High capacity combination The filters are labeled with letters and colors to indicate their suitability for specific substances (see ‘Filter Types’ table). The Alpha Sentinel range includes three gas filters: A1, A2, and ABEK1. These are snowstorm-filled for a higher concentration of activated carbon, ensuring more efficient filtration. Particulate Filters are marked with a ‘P’ (Particulate) and a number which determines the level of protection: P1 = Low protection P2 = Medium protection P3 = High protection The Alpha Sentinel range includes two P3 filters: P3S (Standard) and P3H (High Capacity). Both encapsulated, low-profile filters feature pleated media for reduced breathing resistance and increased filtration capacity. The P3H offers greater surface area and durability than the P3S. Both are reusable (‘R’) for use beyond an eight-hour shift. Combination filters Combination filters protect against particles, gases, and vapors. The Alpha Sentinel range includes a P3P filter that fits over the gas filter and secures into place with the provided filter case.
